Who are you
We are a newly formed limited company registered ( ) and based
in England.
Why have you set up
We are vehicle enthusiasts, restorer and collectors and have sent
up to provide a service that we have looked for ourselves but could
not find.
Where do you get your info from
We predominantly get our information from our members and various
trade sources.
How do you comply with the data protection act
We fully comply with the data protection act and are a registered
(PZ9355053) keeper of data.
What do you do with my info
Your information is stored securely on a server
and is subject to the best security systems available today.
Will you pass my info on to others
We will only share your information with other members of the site,
we will never give enough information for you to be identifiable
to anybody other than yourself or people you have given your id
information to. We do not sell information to third parties and
will only pass on your details if approved by you.
What about cloning
There has been much in the press recently about Cloning, the truth
is it only affects a very small percentage of people. However any
amount is too much as far as we are concerned so we have put into
place procedures which should prevent it from happening from information
obtained from this site.
Our procedures are:
Chassis numbers are never given out on any of our search pages
as they are linked to the registration document of the vehicle -
you cant have one without the other.
Engine numbers are only obtainable if a search for an engine number
has been carried out. When an engine number is found the registration
number or chassis number are never declared as well .
Registration numbers are never declared if the search was for a
particular type of vehicle.
How much is it to register
It is free to register and join, what's more by registering your
vehicles you save £2.50 on all searches and can receive
free searches.
Do I have to register
No but by registering you save £2.50 on all searches and
can receive free searches. We have all
owned vehicles in the past why not add some of your old vehicles
you will be helping a member out and you have nothing to loose.
What information will I receive
If you search has been successful you will be shown the information
held against that search, the details will be ******** out, but
anywhere, where there is a ***** there is information. Once you
have paid the information will be revealed.
Why is the information ****** before I pay
The information is ***** out before you pay to enable you to make
an informed choice as to wether you want to pay for this information
or not. For instance you may only be interested in the current owner
and do not want to know who owned it before.
What if my search is unsuccessful
If you search is unsuccessful we would encourage you to carryout
another search as our database is updated daily.
How much will it cost to search
If you have registered vehicles with us it will cost £5.00
if you have not it will be £7.50. If you have registered multiple
vehicles you could receive free searches.
That seems high
We feel this is a fair price and by using our service you could
save yourselves thousands by not buying a lemon
How do I pay
We only accept PayPal
which is the most established electronic payment method available
today. PayPal
enables you to give your card details to one company only. We receive
our payments direct from PayPal
and never see your card details.
How do I contact the person who's past/previous
vehicle I am interested in
If you are interested in a particular registration then once you
have paid you will be given contact details for the various owners
of that vehicle. Some previous owners may state that they do not
want to discuss the vehicle and we would ask you to respect their
privacy. You will be able to see those members who do not want to
discuss before you are charged.
If you are looking to buy a particular type of vehicle you will
be given contact details for the current owners of that type of
vehicle.
What if I have found the type of vehicle I am
interested in from your free search but want to find out any history
It makes sense that once you have located the type of vehicle that
you are interested in to use our registration search. This way you
will get an unbiased history of the vehicle you are intending to
buy.
Can I use PayPal elsewhere on the web
PayPal is
the biggest electronic payment company in the world and they are
the preferred payment method for millions of people. They are accepted
on all the big auction sites and most companies trading on the net.
Surely if people can contact previous owners
to get an unbiased history, then only genuine vehicles will be sold
on the site
Exactly, it is for this reason that we set the site up, we have
all suffered at the hands of unscrupulous traders and private sellers.
What we are trying to do is keep people honest.
I am not sure of the exact dates I owned a vehicle,
can I register vehicles with approximate dates of ownership
Yes, we realise that you will not be able to remember exact dates
approximate dates are fine.
There is a conflict of information about a vehicle
If you have entered details incorrectly and they clash with another
members you can alter your details by visiting
your homepage and editing the relevant details.
Someone else has added incorrect details
If you have access to their contact details then mail them and
point out the error to them, please copy us in on your mail at services@findyourold
motor.com.
I have contacted them and they have still not
corrected it
Contact us at complaints@findyouroldmotor.com
and we will resolve.
Someone has added my details as either having
bought the vehicle or sold the vehicle
This is acceptable under the data protection act as long as you
are not identifiable to people from the information held. If you
are not happy contact us and we will remove
the information form the site.
When registering should I add who I purchased
the vehicle from and who I sold it to
Yes, please add this information and any information on previous
keepers, but please only use the surname of the person and there
location from the drop down box.
Can I register in various categories
Yes we would encourage you and it all goes to gaining you free
searches.
I have requested that I do not want to be contacted,
yet I have been contacted
Contact us at complaints@findyouroldmotor.com
with the details and we will ensure that you are not contacted again.
Why has my particular type of vehicle not got
it's own category
We have set the categories up that we believe will develop the
most interest. If you want your vehicle type to have its own category
get together with other owners and register your vehicles. We will
change the categories if we have miscalculated the demand.

some copyright free photo's that you would like displayed on our
site please send them to brendan@findyouroldmotor.com
I want to change some of my details
Thats easy just log into your Personal homepage and edit
what information you need to.
What cookies do you use
We use only two:
- To remember a person's session. This is a built-in ASP element
which we use as part of the PayPal
process, to remember the search a person was doing when they return
back from PayPal.
We also use this to make sure a person isn't charged twice for
the same search.
- To remember a person's e-mail address, so the login pages remember
the last e-mail address that they used to log on successfully.
Why do I have to use an id
It is good practice not to use your name when registering, this
allows you to remain Anonymous.
